Efficiency Vermont has named two Vermont design firms as Partners of the Year in energy efficient design and construction. The awards honor Hayward Design Build, in Colchester, and Rutland-based Engineering Services of Vermont. Claus Bartenstein and Dan Dupras, principals of Engineering Services of Vermont, received the Commercial New Construction Partner of the Year award for achievements in the design of high-performance commercial buildings. Lothrop Elementary School

ESVT recently provided engineering services to renovate the mechanical systems at Lothrop Elementary School in Pittsford, Vermont. This school was heated by oil-fired boilers which supplied a combination steam and hot water heating distribution to both the school building and adjacent Town Hall building. Classrooms were ventilated by poorly functioning unit ventilators and a pneumatic control system oversaw operation of equipment. Total square footage of both buildings is 40,000 square feet. Annual fuel oil consumption was around 19,300 gallons of No. 2 fuel oil. The scope of work included replacing one oil fired boiler with two 500 mbh Froling wood pellet boilers and a 36 ton exterior pellet storage silo. Two 400 gallon thermal storage

Neshobe Elementary School

ESVT provided engineering services to renovate the HVAC systems at Neshobe School in Brandon, Vermont. This school consists of two separate buildings and additions. A central oil-fired hot water boiler plant serves both buildings. The Library was heated by a gas fired furnace. Classrooms were ventilated by poorly functioning unit ventilators and a pneumatic control system oversaw operation of equipment. Total square footage of both buildings is 41,000 square feet. The scope of work included adding a 500 mbh Froling wood pellet boiler and a 26 ton exterior pellet storage silo.
